The Tasmanian Little Athletics Association conducts a Winter Cross-Country Season in Southern & Northern Tasmania. The information below should assist you in this area, however if you reuire more information, please contact the East Derwent Centre.
Age Groups:
Under 6, 7 - 800m
Under 8 - 1000m
Under 9, 10 - 1500m
Under 11, 12 - 2000m
Under 13, 14, - 3000m
Under 15 - 4000m
Entry Procedures:
All Little Athletics events start from 10:30am. Entries should be received no later than 10 minutes prior to the start of the race. Athletes will be permitted to compete twice unregistered after which they must be registered. All athletes currently registered do not have to register for the cross country. Non registered athletes will be required to pay a $20.00 registration fee. Centre uniforms are required to be worn. Conditions apply for entry to the Regional and State Cross Country Championships which will be advised at a later date.

Family (2 adults & 2 students) $7.00
Only applies if parent/guardian is running with Athletics South or if more than two children from the one family are racing.

Bagdad - The course is at "Inglewood", the home of Alan and Dale McPherson, 369 Green Valley Road, Bagdad. Heading north, turn left off the Midlands Highway into Swan Street which is at the northern end of Bagdad near the Liberty Service Station. Along Swan Street take a left turn into Green Valley Road. Number 369 is on the left about 4.5km along. Parking in the bottom paddock. The course has significant slopes and passes across grassy paddocks and along lightly wooded bush tracks. Younger age groups will run on the flat. A porterloo will be available.
Bellerive Beach - Starts at Bellerive Beach directly below Bellerive Oval. Course is predominantly flat and on the beach. Toilets available.
Domain X Roads - Starts at Domain Cross Roads ovals. Loop course on grass, parts of Soldiers Walk and surrounding tracks. Has a climb or two and is rough in patches. Toilets available.
Ferntree - Starts at the Pipeline track opposite the Fern Tree Tavern. Course follows the flat dirt track along the pipeline and returns. Toilets available.
Five Mile Beach - Starts at the five Mile Beach Reserve car park. Course follows the flat & sandy tracks through the pine trees and returns. A portaloo will be available.
Grove - Starts at the packing shed of Smith’s apple orchard, Lollara Road, just off the Huon Highway in Grove. The Lollara Rd intersection with the Huon Hwy has half a dozen sign posts to Judbury, wineries, restaurants etc. Course follows an undulating loop through the apple orchard. Usually muddy. Toilets available.
Howrah - Wentworth Park Playground - Starts at the playground at the end of Salacia Avenue, Howrah. Course follows a flat loop on the grass through Wentworth Park. Toilets available.
Huntingfield - Huntingfield Pony Club, Huntingfield Estate, Howden. Cross country undulating and at times rough & sandy loop. Toilets available.
Kempton – Starts at the football grounds with a course around the oval and surrounding grounds. Toilets available.
Opossum Bay – Starts in a cul-de-sac on the northern end of the Opossum Bay Peninsula. Drive along Spitfarm Rd and continue north through a new subdivision. A picturesque undulating loop with spectacular water and mountain views. Portaloo. Take plenty of warm clothes.
Risdon Brook Dam (Road)- Course follows the dirt road (closed to vehicles) along the Risdon Brook Dam. Some small hills. Toilets and BBQ facilities available.
Risdon Brook Dam (X-Country) – Course follows road and tracks in the hills surrounding the Dam. Toilets and BBQ facilities available.
Sandford - Gellibrand Drive (X-Country) - Starts approx. 3k south of the Gellibrand Drive & Rifle Range Road intersection, Sandford. Cross Country. Portaloo.
Waterworks - Starts at BBQ Site 9 in the Waterworks Reserve. Course through the Waterworks. Toilets and BBQ facilities available.
